Overview
The main objective of Physical and Environmental Security is to maintain safety and to protect facilities from environmental damage and unauthorized physical access.

Statement
Facilities used for information processing must ensure the following physical and environmental controls:
  • Fire/smoke detection, prevention and suppression
  • Power stability and safeguards
  • Water damage protection of computing facilities
  • Air quality, temperature and humidity controls
  • Storage of flammable supplies in accordance with local regulatory guidelines
  • Restricted physical access

Justification
The following benefits will be achieved:
  • Maintain safety of individuals in facilities
  • Ensure facilities and equipments are protected from environmental threats

Scope
All employees, contractors, agents and third-parties

Consequeces for Noncompliance
Noncompliance to this policy can result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment or contract.
